If your freelance proposal is more than one page nobody is reading it. Including the client who hired you.

I write 4-page proposals for enterprise clients and they prefer them. "One page" is solo-freelance advice masquerading as universal.

One page proposals for under $5k. Multi-page proposals when there's actually scope to negotiate. Both rules are true at different price points.

Got the contract last week with a one-page proposal. Lost the deal before that with a 12-page proposal. Same scope. Same client type.
